Rato Machindranath, Karunamaya or Bungadyo

Rato Machindranath[रातो मछिन्द्रनाथ] – रक्तावलोकितेश्वर- karunamaya [करुणामय]- Bungadyo [बुंगद्य:] is perhaps the most widely worshiped Buddhist deity in the whole Kathmandu Valley. This is the deity, which is kept in a chariot to make Nepal’s longest festival. It is seen that this festival started in 650 BS. This festival is also related to the legend of Bhotojatra.
