Kathmandu, March 22. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari handed over certificates to participants of the Study Visit of the 45th Lama Guru Study Tour on Tuesay at the president’s office.
The study tour was organized by the Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Management Committee and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.
Addressing the programme, the president stressed on promoting ideologies and teachings of Lord Buddha for peaceful resolution of all conflicts the country is going through at present.
She also called on all human beings to assimilate the ideologies of peace, non-violence, compassion and equity propounded and promoted by Lord Buddha.
On behalf of the Buddhist monasteries and Lama gurus, the delegation handed over a memorandum to the president, asking for release of the fund the government had allocated for restoration of the monasteries all over the country, which were damaged by the last year’s earthquake. They also have requested the government to set up a national level library and resource centre for academic study and research of Buddhism in Nepal.
Lama gurus from over 30 districts of the country had visited different monasteries in Nepal, including Sikkim and other places of India.
